EDUCATION IN THE LIGHT OF THE PHILOSOPHY OF ARISTOTLE
Background. The relevance of reference to Aristotle is predetermined by the fact that he appears to be a thinker who expressed the paradigm of the Western thought.
The aim of the article is to identify the significance of classical forms of thought to understand the current situation in education.
Materials and methods. The study was conducted using the methods of theoretical generalization, benchmarking, analysis and synthesis, which helped to identify the significance of classical forms of thought to understand the current situation in education.
Results. Aristotle begins his "Physics" with the statement that knowledge is clarifying the first reasons, the first principles and output elements and thus in the science of nature we must first try to determine beginnings. Determining the beginnings is extremely difficult, because they do not origin from anything or one another, but they are the basis of considerations. According to the opinion of M. Heidegger, shared by the author, to understand Aristotle we must first understand ourselves; or at least understand what we want to understand due to Aristotle and in his works. He who wishes to understand himself, should clarify the situation for himself, which he is in. This applies to education as well. It is suggested that Aristotle's attention to beginngs is an indication of the need to foster contemplative bases of knowledge.
Conclusion. This leads to conclusion of the destructiveness of the early utilitarian specialization, that is a trend of the modern education system.
