DOMESTIC ENTERPRISES IN THE GLOBAL VALUE FORMATION CHAINS

Background. The essence of global value chains was revealed in the article. The situation, trends and prospects of Ukrainian industry are analyzed in the article. A special role is played by the new integrated structure – international production networks. Based on trend strengthening of integration processes in the production the assessment of the prospects of participation of domestic enterprises in the global value chain is the aim of the study.
Materials and methods. Theoretical and methodological basis for analytical representation of the data represented in the article were the works of local and foreign scientists in the field of economics and international trade. The base of statistical information is data of State Statistics Service, and also data of world organizations UNCTAD and OECD. This paper uses a wide range of general and special methods including: methods of analysis, synthesis, synthesis and comparison; the historical, statistical and structural analysis, etc.
Results. Basic theories that examined the nature of the phenomenon were analyzed. It was determined that the highest level of benefits of participation in global value chains have businesses technologically advanced countries. Indicators of production industries based on imports and their share in total exports were analyzed. Structural analysis showed that the greatest demand from foreign customers enjoy products of mechanical engineering, while more complex high-tech products and other industries are less in demand, because of technological backwardness and a low degree of diversification of the national enterprises. The factors that hinder the expansion of the active participation of national companies in global value chains were revealed.
Conclusion. Against the background of strengthening global integration processes in the industry, our country mainly is a supplier of low-level processing products on world market. The reason is the existence of a number of factors that hinder active participation of domestic enterprises in global production. Neutralization of these factors, establishment of business relations, correct distribution of FDI in the industry will enhance expanding the participation of national enterprises in the global value chains.
